Biographical
General (political statement of goals, objectives, views, philosophies)

I became a Libertarian in 1985. Since then, I have tirelessly promoted liberty by writing, teaching, and running for public office.

I have been a Libertarian candidate in every statewide partisan election since 1994. In 1997, my candidacy for Detroit City Council was endorsed by the Detroit News.

Most famously, I ran for United States Senate in 2008, and served as Libertarian gubernatorial candidate Greg Creswell's running mate in 2006. The Creswell-Boman ticket campaigned on behalf of Proposal-2, which sought to eliminate the legalized racial and gender preference practiced by the state of Michigan. Both Jennifer Granholm and Dick DeVos opposed Proposal-2, which ended up passing by a large margin.

I was a grassroots leader of Michigan's Ron Paul for President campaign. I organized one of the largest Meetup groups in the state, and he was very active in the Detroit area promoting Ron Paul's libertarian message of peace, liberty, and prosperity. Since then has has been an active member of Campaign for Liberty.

Professionally, I have been an educator for 21 years. Currently, he works as a Physics instructor at Wayne County Community College and as an Astronomy instructor at Macomb Community College. I also substitute teach in the Grosse Point Public School System.

Reasons & Objectives
Areas to Concentrate On

i. Protecting individual privacy. The Secretary of State has access to a tremendous amount of personal information. This information should not be shared without the resident's knowledge and consent.

ii. Fairness in elections. The Secretary of State must be impartial, giving all initiatives and candidates fair access to the ballot, in accordance with Michigan Election law.

iii. Customer service. The office of Secretary of State must continue and expand commitment to excellence in customer service, reviewing customer feedback to improve on those services.

Why I Am Running for Public Office

It is difficult to be free in a society without privacy. Some liberty is possible under an authoritarian government when ones private behavior goes unnoticed. Privacy also gives us a certain amount of security from theft or fraud. A person is less likely to steal from us if they don't know what we have, or where it is hidden. Privacy has become even more important (and difficult to maintain) in the information age, where data is swapped between faceless institutions, and life savings are protected by nothing more then a user ID and a password.

Governmental entities are rapidly moving to abuse information technology to strip away what is left of our privacy, liberty, and security. The basic ideas have been floated for decades in science fiction, and modern interpretations of ancient prophesies. Whether the context is religious or secular, the nightmare scenario is one in which every transaction is monitored by a central database. A system whereby every individual is marked or monitored.

Michigan's Secretary of State can play a roll in stopping this madness. At the very least, limiting the collection of biometric information, ending the issuance of RFID "enhanced" ID, and refusing to share people's personal information with outside political entities. Please help me make stopping dangerous ID an issue in the 2010 election cycle.

Goals If Elected

One of the greatest threats to our liberty, and privacy is an attempt to use identification documentation to build an international database. This database could then be used to track every citizens movements and purchases.

To stop this I would:

* Reject the Real ID Act, Pass Act, or any other attempt to make State documents into De Facto National ID cards.

* I would End the use of RFID chips in driver's licenses and state ID.

* I would Minimize the collection of biometric information, at a minimal level of resolution.

* I would Destroy used or extraneous personal information that could otherwise be abused.

* and I would Refuse to share information with external organizations without your informed consent.

Homeland Security
Michigan National Guard in the Department of Homeland Security vs. Defense

The national guard should be used exclusively for homeland defense, and not for foreign adventures and crusades.

Michigan Security from Terror Attack, a General Statement

Law enforcement can't (and should not be) at all places at all times. The people who are always at the scene of a violent attack are the victim(s) and the attacker(s). It is essential that victims have access to the means with which to defend themselves.

I support the right of people to conceal-carry and open-carry at any public location, and at any private venue where the property owner permits it.

Michigan Airport Security

Privatize airport security. It would be better than the TSA.

Michigan Local First Responders Federal Funding

We need to stop sending so many Michigan tax dollars do Washington DC. Federal funding is a tool the Federal politicians use to circumvent the 10th Amendment of the US Constitution.
