Phil Potvin believes in...

As a lifelong Northern Michigan resident, Phil Potvin brings years of leadership and real life management experience to his candidacy for 102 district State Representative seat.

Phil is married to Jan Potvin and they have four married adult children and seven grandchildren. Phil maintains his residence in Cadillac, Michigan and is a property owner in Osceola County.

Phil holds a Masters in Business Administration from Central Michigan University and a Bachelor of Arts from Albion College.

Profession (professional and work experience outside politics)

As the former Chief Executive Officer of Western Concrete, Phil brings his first hand knowledge to many complex issues facing Michigan including economic growth and jobs creation. In 2003, Phil was elected to Chairman of the Board of the National Concrete Masonry Association. After his Chairman term expired Phil served five additional years on the executive committee of that association. In serving these two roles, Phil had numerous trips to Washington D.C. for direct conversations with our national leaders.

Phil's background also includes secondary education and the military. Prior to his assignment as chief executive officer, Phil's first career was in secondary education. He continues his career in education today as a certified substitute teacher in the Cadillac area. Currently, Phil oversees property management for Western Concrete Properties in Big Rapids and Cadillac, Michigan and outside sales for the Hope Network in Cadillac and Paris, Michigan centers.

As a graduate of the Michigan Military Academy and a lifelong member of the Michigan National Guard (ret), Phil served as a platoon tank commander at the Cadillac Armory.

Phil is very active in the local community serving as Vice President of Programming to The Scenic Trails Boy Scout Council. He has also been active for several year with local boy scout troop 125 in Cadillac, Michigan. He is a weekly volunteer at Mercy Hospital and Eucharist Minister to the shut ins at Green Acres Retirement Home.

Potvin is also a member of Ducks Unlimited, the National Rifle Association, the Michigan Farm Bureau, and Right to Life of Michigan.

Phillip Potvin is a Republican member of the Michigan House of Representatives, representing District 102 since January 1, 2011.

Phil is a member of St. Ann Parish in Cadillac, Michigan. In his parish, Phil is an active lector, Eucharist minister and lay leader of Sunday celebrations. Phil serves as the treasurer of the Northern Michigan Catholic Foundation for the Gaylord Diocese.
